More Peach for Iva

Aunt Shannon and Uncle Chris gave her this peach outfit and it just matches her coloring so well.  I think peach may be one of her signature colors!

A Worm Mommy!

This girl found this super long worm on an evening walk and decided to pick it up - ha!

She was so intrigued by how close she could examine and watch its every move!

Play Mat and Tummy Time with Big Sis

Love these last two because she still absolutely LOVES to keep her eyes on her big sis!

Polka dot Side-bySide

This one is a little harder to decipher, but Myra is the awake one on the left and Iva is sleeping away...

Cool Creek Park with the Bruners...

 The 3 big kiddos...

Michael decided he needed to stroll with baby Iva!

A Rare Date Night

I need to blog more frequently because I can't remember exactly where we went or who watched the kiddos.  I think Papa and Jay must have watched them for a couple of hours while we went to Delicia in Broadriple.  All I know is that it's always good to get out of the house for a bit together!

Smelling the Roses...

At the NEW house!

This was a day where we were visiting the new house after the inspection and Myra fell in love with the rose bushes.  Let's hope I don't kill them this year!

Monkey Girl

Grammy's good friend, Karen, gave Iva this fun monkey outfit and jacket.  I love the monkey on the butt!

That Mouth!

Another Sweet Side-by-Side

Iva was about a month older than Myra here, but she's on the left and little peanut Myra is on the right:

Challenges

I would be remiss if I didn't spend some time in this baby book of sorts providing the challenges- not just the good smiley times- with this little one.  Myra was such a good baby that we thought all babies must be that good - ha!  At almost exactly 2 weeks old, little Iva decided to take on some colicky traits by crying (screaming) for hours (multiple hours) each day.  This didn't really end until she was about 5ish months old.

I can look back now - almost 6 months later - and say it was some type of stomach / gas / acid reflux issue, but as with most baby-related issues, it's all really a guess.  We tried different formulas and baby Zantac, which didn't really help very much.  We eventually tried probiotics when she was about 2 months old and that was the only thing that reduced the crying, but there was still a lot of crying occurring each day.  Most things I read and talked to the Dr about seemed like it was textbook colic with no exact explanation.  She would mainly scream about an hr after eating, then sleep a few minutes and be restless and a bit cranky before wanting to eat again.  Prime screaming hours where there wasn't much calming was from 7-9pm, but thankfully, this girl would go right to sleep at 9p.  Of course, she wouldn't sleep through the whole night until about 4ish months old, but would only wake up for a bottle at 3am.

When I see these pictures, I remember this day like it was yesterday.  She had a great morning and was so fun to play with, but the afternoon was just nothing but crying.  Thankfully, she would do pretty well with swaddling pretty tight and shushing, but this girl needed constant holding and attention most of the day.  She's still a pretty good snuggler, but this mama was always pretty worn out by the end of the day.  If I wanted to get anything done - e.g. laundry, bathe Myra or put Myra to bed when daddy wasn't home, she would be in the baby carrier.  She's a bigger baby, so this wasn't easy on my back!

But...again, at 6 months old, she's really my angel baby.  She's very sweet and snuggly and will play by herself for quite a few minutes.  And...she loves watching and laughing at her sister the most!  She also sleeps from about 8pm to 7/7:30am ish!

I have heard this before, but it's pretty true...If she were our first, I am not sure there would be a second child - ha!

Daddy Time!

First Wizard of Oz Viewing

I gave her the Wizard of Oz for her birthday this year thinking she may be open to watching it with me, but she wasn't quite interested in it just yet.  She WAS interested in wearing her Dorothy dress and ruby red slippers though!

Daddy and the Littlest

Helping with Bath Time

Ha!  Well..not really helping!

Strong Girl

Holding that head up when she was about 1.5 months old!

Double Cuteness

Iva on the top and Myra on the bottom!

I think Myra was only about 1-2 weeks old here, but Iva is about 1.5 months old.

My Colts Ladies

More outside time...this time was a Colts Sunday with some outdoor coloring involved.

My Outdoor Beauties

We had such a beautiful Fall that we tried to be outside as much as possible.  This was late September and it was still in the 70's!

Posing by the geranium that was still alive even though it was planted in May (Mother's Day) and had little to no watering.  It was a hearty one!
Funny photo shoot in her kinky (post braided piggies) hair...

And...I don't want to forget to post this.  This picture reminds me that Myra decided one day that she has RAINBOW eyes!  I think that's pretty creative and we are sticking with it!

A rare Myra and mommy photo...

Some fun with her little sis...
I love Iva's questioning look in this one...
